A Mac user posting at Apple’s forum
“I’m upgrading my 20″ iMac (Core Duo) at the moment and the installation ‘completed’, then the computer rebooted and it has been sitting on a plain blue screen for the past 30 minutes.”
A long thread at Apple’s discussion forums described the problem faced by some of the Mac users who were upgrading their Mac OS to leopard. The problem is as such that when installation process is almost complete and user attempt to restart their machines, their Mac system gets hung at the initial boot screen. And after contacting about this issue to Apple’s support, it was suggested by them to wait for at least 2 hours, and many of the Mac users literally waited for more than 4 hours sitting in front of blue screen of death.
Apple said that this problem is because of third party application enhancement software which is installed in Mac system. But there are many Mac user who have faced this problem and they don’t have any enhancement software installed.
However Apple has given two options to avoid this “Blue Screen Death” both for novice and expert users
For Novice Users: “Archive and Install” Method
For Expert Users: Command Line Method

We all are very excited to see the new innovation in Apple Operating System through Leopard, but we should not forget in excitement the data loss chances while migrating to Apple’s Leopard. So to be on the safer side we suggest you to take the backup of your critical data. And for those who have already lost their data while upgrading to Leopard, we suggest you to try Macintosh data recovery software i.e. Stellar Phoenix Macintosh data recovery to recover you data back.
